Today I am joining my travel savvy pals for some great travel tips. Are you tired of sacrificing style for comfort when traveling? As we age, it can be challenging to find the balance between fashion and functionality while on the go. Let’s explore some practical tips and tricks on how to dress stylishly and comfortably for travel after 50.

I am a huge fan of natural fabrics for their style and comfort level. The best traveling outfits offer multiple choices and combinations. Clothing lines like Mersea, Eileen Fisher, Athleta, and Frank and Eileen offer many options.

Embrace Versatile and Wrinkle Resistant Fabrics

It’s no secret I am a fan of natural fabrics. I know many of you worry about linen wrinkling. Embrace the wrinkles. The beauty of linen is you can wash it out in the sink with bar soap if need be. Hand iron it and you are ready for your next adventure. Cotton Gauze is another fabric that you can wash out in your sink and hang to dry. Gauze is meant to be left naturally crinkly.

A travel dress with hidden pockets that can be worn as a dress or a duster with pants is a great option. A T-shirt dress can be dressed up or down and takes up very little space.

Choose a Neutral Base for Versatility

If your travel wardrobe is made up of neutral colors, such as beige, black, and or navy you will have more options. A great pair of black pants, and a few blouses and shirts to compliment the core will take you a long way.

Layer Up for Changing Temperatures

Travel Outfits this time of year are more predictable. Opt for lightweight clothes, but a jacket, sweater, or wrap might be necessary in the cooler evenings.

Try to avoid bringing heels unless you have an event that requires them. It is unlikely that you will wear them much if at all. Sneakers, sandals, and comfortable loafers will offer more options. Accessorize for Style and Functionality

Choose your jewelry and accessories wisely. Utilize accessories like a scarf/wrap that can double as a throw on the plane. Try not to carry too many purses. I like to carry a tote on the plane. I tuck my crossbody inside. A crossbody bag is great for ease and safety while exploring a new destination.

You don’t have to sacrifice style for $$. Old Navy’s crinkle gauze line packs a lot of bang for your buck. On the left I am wearing the skirt with the split neck top and on the right the pants. I apologize for the photos. It was hazy the day of filming. I will enjoy these separates during the dog days of summer here in Paso.

The Frank and Eileen Malibu set is pricey but worth every penny. The set can be worn casually or dressed up. I would wear this on the plane coming and going and as separates in between.
