The only cliffhanger is Skinner's status. Couldn't they have shown him for five seconds looking at Monica's body or something?
Cigarette Smoking Man should stay dead. They never should've brought him back to begin with. Was there anyone else still live they could've handed the conspiracy reigns too?
Also, what was the point of introducing Barbara Hershey and the space colony group if you were just going to dispatch them so quickly? But that's Chris Carter for you.

There was a lot of chasing through factories in this episode. If that is the final episode of the X Files, it was absurd and nauseating, much like the rest of the series. You really couldn’t ask for anything more.

Not a good episode, but much more of an ending that i could have ever hoped for. I'll take it.

That was gory, especially for network television. Man what shows are able to get away with has changed quite a bit.

Does anyone remember why William was the "key to everything"?

I was kind of sad to see Reyes die the way she died. She wasn't just a random thug working for the baddie until the show made it's comeback. Now I want to know what happened to Doggett even more and were they still friends. What happened to them continuing on the X-Files like it was thought they would back in the old series final?
Not sure why Kersh would overact to a FBI agent talking to a website. Who would even believe especially since the one they went with is basically a liberal version of the Alex Jones, show. Still I liked the somewhat happy ending. Since the space escape seems off it looks like the human race is doomed but that is future people problems. The upside is Mulder and Scully get to be parents though I am guessing they will both be fired from the FBI( again).

Exactly. It made no sense and didn't fit her character.
Yea... talk about characters being retconned.
Hated this episode for what it's worth.

The X-Files shut down again. It must have been a Wednesday.

They will soon be re-opened for no apparent reason as if nothing happened.

Does anyone even know what Mulder did for a living during the last time he was fired from the FBI/X-Files? Also Scully must have gave up lots of money to come back and work a government job instead that rich hospitial she was working at during the last movie.

Mulder moved to LA and became a writer.

That wasn't... good, it wasn't a terrible clusterf*ck either, it just was so mediocre. If half the season would have been the flashed out flashbacks of this episode I might have actually given a f*ck or two about William and his story, but like this... I just shrugged when they "killed" "their" kid (so did they apparently). Could have been worse, just one big meh-bullet to the head.

Mulder and Scully did seem to get over the death of their son pretty quick. I half expected when his head popped up out of the water to see his lips quiver and a single tear come out of a eye.

Why does Chris Carter hate Scully? Even in this episode he couldn't find a way to get her into the action...

Well, that wasn't a total disaster, but it was still kind of meh.
I forgot about the fact Kersh closed the X-Files again.
Honestly, I could see this working as an ending if it doesn't come back, CSM is dead, the space colonist people are dead, and as far as anyone knows so is William. We didn't get any kind of resolution of the alien plot, but they haven't really dealt with that since the show came back, so I wasn't expecting anything on that front anyways.

Usually in the old show Mulder would investigate the people and Scully would investgate the science. Neither one is really suited as action stars though. That was never what the show was about so gun play and car chases never feel natural to me when I see them on the modern version of the show.

The csm actually said there was never an alien plot to begin with. It was all him all along...

But we saw aliens plotting with him? Also he used to work for the cabal in New York so how was he behind everything?
