Former Athenian Dies at Buffalo After Accident Mrs. Lillian Underkoffler of 323 South Lincoln street, Palmyra, Pa. died unexpectedly Tuesday in Pottsville hospital of injuries suffered in an automobile accident Aug. 10 near Tower City. She was the mother of Russell D.

Ehrhart of Hummelstown, Pa. D. 1, formerly of Athens. She was 58 years old. Her husband, Gurney Underkoffler, was driving their car at the time of the accident but was unhurt.

Mrs. Underkoffler received a compound fracture of the right leg and a ruptured diaphragm. She was taken to the hospital after the accident and although her condition serious her death came suddenly. Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons, James, at home; Marlin and Hilbert of Palmyra, Albert of Phoenixville, Russell of Hummelstown, seven grandchildren. and Mrs.

Underkoffler visited in the Valley many times. The funeral will be held in Palmyra Saturday at 2 p.m. with burial in Orwin, Pa. Former Athens Man'sMotherDies Mrs. Bess Fuller Newman, widow of Thaddeus Newman, formerly of Athens, died Tuesday in Buffalo.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ward W. Watrous of Chatham, N. and Mrs. Walter B.

Austin Thompson Towanda, retired pastor of the Church of God, died yesterday afternoon in the Robert Packer hospital.

He was 58 years old. He suffered a stroke August 19 after preaching the guest sermon at the Towanda church and lapsed into unconsciousness. He never regained consciousness. A native of Maryland, Rev. Thompson made his nome with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr.

and Mrs. Paul Whipple of Towanda RD 6. He was ordained in 1924 and held several pastorates in Maryland and Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife; four sons, Austin, Jr.

of Somerset, Elwood and Alfred of Chester, Pa. and Charles of Towanda; one daughter, Mrs. Paul Whipple of Towanda RD three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clifton Sweetman of Stanton, Del; and two brothers, Elwood of Wilmington, Del. and Harvey of Henderson, Md.

The body is at the Archer Funeral home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Olive Nichols Dies Following Long Illness Mrs. Olive Nichols of Ferry street, Athens, who lived nearly all her life in Sayre, died at 5 o'clock this morning after a twoyear illness. She was 85 years old.

The daughter of Harry and Melinda Rogers, she was born in New Albany in 1866. She was a member of the Church of Christ in West Sayre. She is survived by: two sons, Lee A. Nichols and Ornal B. Nichols of Sayre; a daughter-inlaw, Mrs.

Wilbur Nichols of Athens; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Rochefeller of Flint, 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The body is at the Kolb funeral home, 126 North Elmer avenue, Sayre. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock with Rev. Clifton E.

Dawson of the Church of Christ officiating. Private burial will held at Tioga Point cemetery at a later date. Schedule for Waverly Junior High Is Given Students of the Mary W. Muldoon Junior high school should acquaint themselves with the new term's first week schedule. It is as follows: Wednesday, school will call at 8:45.

Doors will open at 8:30 and parents are urged to arrange for the arrival of their children between 8:30 and 8:45. School will dismiss at 10:30. There will be no school in the afternoon.
